Paypal Alternatives : Other Online Payment Services
When there is demand, there will be a supply… that’s what I believe. All is not lost, if for whatever reasons that you cannot use Paypal.
Here are some other paypal alternatives that you can use to accept online payment from your customers :
1. clickbank.com
This long standing marketplace has a online payment system in place that you can use. Yes, even for physical products. Now they even have the subscription payment option. The only caveat is that you need to pay $49 to put your product up and you do have to wait a while for them to send you the cheque ( it will be longer if you are not based in US ) The major plus of using clickbank is, of course, the possibilities of getting affiliates to help promote your product.
Cons ? New accounts are generally limited to selling products of less than $49. So unless you have a aged and proven account ( you have to ask for the increase in the amount you can charge ), you are really limited to selling products that are less than $49.
They accept international merchants! Weeee…
2. 2Checkout
This is another popular payment gateway that many are using ( though not as popular as it used to be ). They also charge a one time setup fee of $49. One good thing about 2checkout.com is that they accept most credit cards including Diners Club as well as JCB ( two of which Paypal do not accept ). However, their transaction fee is on the high side compared to Paypal.
They also support recurring billing and you can sell e-products like ebooks as well as physical products.
Plus they accept international merchants.
3. Ask someone to help you. This is one route you can take. Ask someone nicely to help you accept payment for you on Paypal. You have to get someone you trust and that someone who also trust you. It is a matter of trust in this case.
4. Google Checkout. I have not tried them out yet. But here’s what I know about them. They charged a 2% + $0.20 per transaction. One smart move they did was to combine benefits with Adwords. It means that you could potentially get free credit card processing if you are an active advertiser with Adwords. In few words… the more you spend on Adwords, the more you save on Google checkout. This probably will be attractive to merchants who do a lot of Adwords PPC.
HOWEVER, Google Checkout currently only support US and UK merchants! Bummer for the rest of us international group…
These are just a few of the more trusted, common and reliable payment services. There are many more online payment services like Worldpay, etc.
Do let me know if you know of any that is worth using!
