Why Paypal Is Not The Perfect Payment Solution
Honestly, I love Paypal.
It gives me much flexibility and also allows me to receive and send payment to people all over the world ( granted not every country … ) Furthermore I love the fact that I do not have to keep my credit card beside me and also to key in my credit card information every time (more secure compared to keying in everytime). The best thing is that I can withdraw my money to a local bank account ( this may not be applicable to every country though ). Convenience!
However, today I learnt a valuable lesson - Paypal blocks some browsers! The main chunk of the population who are mostly using Internet Explorer, Firefox have no problems with Paypal. The other smaller population who are using browsers like Camino which do not support or is lacking in support for Extended Validation SSL certificates, Paypal considers them as “unsafe” and hence people who are using these browsers cannot transact with Paypal ( they get “Page Not Found” errors based on feedback from customers ).
That said, the population is probably smaller compared to the general users. However, if a customer email you to beg you to sell the product to him, do you reject him? NO! Of course, no! Rule of the thumb is never to disappoint your customers and your own wallet…
So, if you have your own products and you are selling them online using Paypal, you should have an alternative payment solution as an backup. This way, you make your customer happy and you make your wallet just a bit fatter!
Next post, I’d be sharing some other alternative payment solutions that you can look into.
