You can’t miss them… Google Adsense is EVERYWHERE
Just had my after dinner tea, and was unwinding for the day and hoping to get some free entertainment over at youtube… when an innocent headline caught my eye… right at the corner of my eye in fact… but I just had to check out to see what was it about. *Click* ….
KACHING!!! And that click has just made youtube a few cents… not much for my click but imagine the gazillions number of visitors going through the website! Even 1% of $0.05 for each click per day would suffice!
Oh yeah.
Go look on the web…
Google Adsense is everywhere… erm, yes… here on this blog too. Adsense has indeed opened doors for many people who are looking for ways to monetize their “online real estates” i.e. websites, ranging from blogs, membership sites, forums… heck, even youtube. But the concept of Adsense is not really new - PPC or Pay Per Click advertising. The other side of the coin of Adsense is Adwords.
Before you start getting confused, here’s my super simplified explanation :
Adsense : You sign up as an affiliate for Adsense, get your Adsense javascript code with your very own unique publication ID and paste it on your website. Once pasted there, the ingenius Google Adsense will start its “magic” through the javascript which you have pasted on your website. First of all, it will find out what your website is about by reading the content of your website. This way, it will pick out all possible words in your content and display Ads of advertisers relevant to them. Tada… Once your visitors come to your site and anyone click on any one of your Ads displayed, you get paid! WOah… I tell you it’s a rush! The very first vigin click that register a trickle of US cents… ( no matter how tiny it is… ) Oh Joy!
Adword : On the other side of the coin, advertisers bids on certain keywords that they feel ( or know after extensive research done by those are the real smart SEOs… ) what their targeted customers will be interested in or search for online and come up with Ads for those keywords. So anytime anyone clicks on their Ads in any of of the gazillion websites out there with those relevant keywords, the advertisers will have to pay Google. How much ? While it all depends on the competitiveness of the keywords and several other factors like CTR ( click through rates ), etc Well, the fact is that nobody really knows how Google calculate… unless you work there I guess. Google has been rather secretive in revealing these information.
The information I have here are really really just the itsy bitsy tippest tip of an iceberg. However, have no fear, if I can understand and earn my money from Adsense, so can anyone!
