List Building - How To Get Visitors To Subscribe?

List building is probably the most important activity of an affiliate marketer. Every successful marketer is measured probably by the number of subscribers they have on their list! Guess how many people is on Ewen Chia’s list or John Reese’s list or Stephen Pierce’s list? Probably hundreds of thousands…. salivating now?

It used to be easy to get people to give out their emails to subscribe to your list but not any more with all the spams that has been going around. Now, people are very careful in giving out their emails. For one, I am more cautious about using my main emails and what I will do is to use those “spare” emails that I create in order to use them to get these free reports.

Thus, you need to offer something to the visitor in order to get them to put down their email and name. The gift can be a short report, an ebook, a mp3 recording, a software, free membership or even a video clip. The only caveat is that … it must be something of value to the target market. So you must really do some research on your market that you intend to market to, understand their wants ( not needs… note that! ), their demographics and more. It will be best if you can know and get to talk to someone in that market!

For example, if your market is people suffering from acne, you can offer a report like “7 Herbs You Can Take To Prevent Acne” free to your visitors. Some marketers make their report viral by putting in their website link and then allowing the visitor who downloaded the report to resell or give the report away. Of course, the report must be of quality and must really provide good content. Instead of giving out just another pdf report, you can give out a report that the visitor can resell or give out to others too. Or make a video/audio clip instead on the subject matter. For example you can come up with a video that shows you a 5 minute massage for your face you can do everyday that can prevent acne!

But you need to “sell” your gift in your web page. Make it a must that the visitor cannot afford not to have it. List out all the benefits that the visitors are going to get and how it is going to solve their problem if they have this special report that is not available any where else.

Aside from the above, you should tweak and test your opt-in page. Try putting a picture of yourself on the squeeze page or an video or change the font? You may be surprised to find out some interesting results. Test, test and more test!
