Google Insights - My Favourite Tool For Keyword Research
Yes, I love Google. There is no reason not to!
Google has provided us so many tools that I cannot fathom not having them. And the most beautiful part of all these tools is that they are all free! ( except Adwords )
The tool I love most however, is Google Insights. Have you tried that out yet? If you haven’t, you ought to! Although it is still in beta, it is a very useful tool for marketers.
This little tool gives you search insights or rather a way to take a look at Google Search data! How cool is that?
So what does Google Insights show you? Plenty of details about any search term you may have based on criterias like location, period, interest over time, categories…
The global map to show you where most of the searches are coming from are pretty interesting. This is pretty useful when you are doing Adwords PPC as you can use this statistics to geo target your ad campaigns.
You can actually see what are the up and coming searches are about based on your keyword. In the example you can see some of the popular keyword terms based on the seed keyword “google” during the last 12 months. Search terms such as “google chrome” and “chrome” under Rising Searches showed that there was a breakout searches ( means sudden surge of searches all over the world for these terms - if I remembered correctly, if searches suddenly went up at least 500% then it will be branded as breakout )
You should target search terms that are up and rising like those under the the breakouts to “ride” the “breakout” so to speak.
You can combine this tool with the Google Trends tool to dig out even more keywords to use. Now do you know why I did this blog post about Google Insights?
