17 Must Have Tools For Successful Internet Marketers – Part 4

12. Cpanel
If you are with Hostgator or most of the hosting company, the chances are you will have Cpanel. This makes a internet marketer’s life so much easier! I used to maintain and manage my previous employers servers and it was a huge headache as I had to do everything manually through the command line. ( yes, think linux commands etc. ls, mv, gzip, tar -xvf etc ) Eventually we did move to Webmin (open source) but you’ll still need some technical knowledge in order to use the GUI interface.

Well, those days are open for me! Running my own websites are definitely more easy with cpanel and this is one tool you can’t live without. Setting up subdomains, emails, programs ( such as wordpress ) has never been easier and time saved is enormous!

So, you are not using Cpanel yet, get your hosting company to help setup for you. Or just switch to a hosting company that does that for you!

13. Cloaking
Yes, all affiliate marketers need this tool. There are plenty of tools out there that you can use to cloak your affiliate links. There is the quick and dirty way by using the short url redirection services. These are online services that help you shorten your long links into short ones. Some popular services include tinyurl.com, shorturl.com (I have only used these two before) and many more. This is very useful when you are twittering or when the url cannot be too long. However I would not recommend using this type of “cloaking” for affiliate links as if the site gets shut down, so does your link!

Another way of cloaking is to diy or do it yourself on the server. You just need to create a folder and a index.php to be put in the folder. On your index.php put in the following with the url replacing the youraffiliatelink.com below :

<?php
header( 'Location: http://www.youraffiliatelink.com' ) ;
?>

This is very easy to do.

14. Web Statistics
If you have hosting with the popular hosting company like hostgator, you probably have cpanel on your website where you can check your website statistics. Most people loves using Awstats which is available from your website cpanel. However, recently I just got to use Statcounter.com and I am loving it! It provides very nice statistics ( the graphics made it easy for me to understand ), very user friendly and it’s free ( there’s a limit on the log file size though ). Statistics that you get on your website includes number of unique visitors, return visitors, keywords used, where traffic comes from, and many many more interesting insights to your websites.

15. keyword research Tools

Oh yeah… this is very very important. A few of the most popular keyword tools are Wordtracker.com ( free trial given ), Adwords Keyword Tool and Seobook.com. These are all free and useful for evaluating niches.

For PPC campaigns, paid keyword tools likePPC Webspy (excellent for spying on PPC campaigns) as well as Spyfu.com are terrific to spy on your competitors.

If you are doing more in depth keyword research for your niche, Keyword Elite and the paid version of Wordtracker.com are great and essential to cull out even more keywords.

16. autoresponders

If you are not building list, then you are leaving money on the table. One of the most important tool in any internet marketer’s arsenal is the autoresponder software. There are many available but personally I only use GetResponse.com simply because the emails deliverability is excellent and it allows you to create multiple ars. Besides, it has many tools that help you check your email spam rating, you can also track click throughs and so on. Otherwise many internet marketers also swears by Aweber.com.
