17 Must Have Tools For Successful Internet Marketers – Part 2
5. HTML Editor
This is an all important tool that every internet marketer needs. Many times, you’ll need a fast tweak in the sales page without the need of getting a web designer. Perhaps bolding some words, adding a picture or two, making changes to the headline…
The best tool of course is without a doubt, Macromedia Dreamweaver. It is an easy to use WYSIWYG ( or what you see is what you get ) that allows you to add html elements to the page and you’ll be able to see what the actual page looks like. Although I know my HTML very well ( yes, I can just code HTML to save my life… haha ), but it sure is much easier if you have a tool like Dreamweaver to let you see exactly what you are coding. You can even view the html codes and the design look side by side!
However, such a powerful tool comes with a price! But trust me, it is worth every penny.
The other good WYSIWYG html editor is Microsoft Frontpage. I have heard feedback from many beginners that that is a great tool. However I have personally used it and have found that the software actually embeds alot of unnecessary html codes ( what geeks refer to as “bloated” codes) which sometimes causes more problems than good when displaying the html page created by it. Trust me when I says this can cause some hair pulling moments when you are trying to debug a html page.
However if you cannot fork out so much money or you feel that it is not necessary for you to pay so much for this tool, there’s always other alternatives. So far I have used a few alternatives that are free, they are not perfect but good enough.
NVU – It tries to be like Dreamweaver. It pretty much also gives you WYSIWYG. I think this tool is great alternative if you are a beginner and do not want to spend so much on an editor. However, I did find a couple of bugs in the program that may not allow you to do certain things that I take for granted in Dreamweaver.
6. Image Editor
This tool is essential nowadays with the fast growth in media online. Now almost every website, be it a blog, an ecommerce shop or simply a social networking site needs images to jazz up. Although you can fall back on using Paint, I would suggest at least get a decent image editor so that you can create interesting images. One of the best out there is Adobe Photoshop.
This is one very powerful tool that creates all sorts of special effects to an image. Almost all graphics or website designers use this professional tool. You can use this tool to edit someone in a photo to look younger or thinner, enlarge their eyes, remove ugly scars or pimples, make smoke come out of their heads etc. Cool?
Plus there is really a whole lot of free tutorials and freebies ( like brushes, backgrounds etc ) that you can download to use by designers all over the world.
Hefty price tag? Then go for the lighter version. This is Photoshop Elements which is perfect for less power users like beginners, photographers or just folks wanting to make their family photos look good.
I’d say… good enough!
Don’t even want to spend a single cent? You can use Paint or one of those online editors like Piknik. This Piknik is pretty cool to use and it makes it easy for you to put in text and more! Take a look at what I created :
7. Online Network Utilities Tool
This tool is essential when your website is down or when your customer cannot see your website. The tool I always used is an online tool by CentralOps. The uses for this tool really helpful for debugging your website when it is down. How do you use it? Watch for my future post on this.
Ten more to go… watch for the next post… soon…
